    Why you can’t have security without usability

    Don Norman on why there’s no security without usability:

    One notable example of the “good news –  bad news” category illustrates the problem. The bad news is that someone lost a hard drive with confidential information. The good news is that it was encrypted. The bad news is that because the password was so difficult to remember, it was taped to the drive in plain sight. Here is a case where usability should not have triumphed.
