Rounded Corners – 203 (Always be shipping)

Always be shipping. If you’re still searching for that one superior language to rule them all, you might want to stop and read Peter Christensen’s Language Snobs: Don’t Pinch Pennies:

The key point that the penny pinchers miss is that while using inferior tools has a cost associated with it, so does not using those tools. The important thing is to Always Be Shipping.

The gynecologist interface. Choice quote from KDE 4 UI critique that sadly applies to so many annoying UIs:

The new KDE launcher is a gynecologist interface: There you are, sitting in front of a 20? screen, but the programmer has dictated that you have to do everything by poking around in a small box.

Git links roundup. The fabulous Git cheat sheet, Git for Windows, and Scott Chacon‘s Git presentation (RailsConf 2008, PDF) which taught me more about Git than any other resource.

Command-Select. I didn’t even know that was possible, but apparently in some applications you can copy & paste non-contiguous text.  Firefox 3 is one of them (Command key on the Mac).

Static vs dynamic typing. “Do you strong-type all your variables?
