    Rounded Corners

Short and long. The Effects of Line Length on Reading Online News. Besides proving that my blog theme is not optimized for speed (around 75 cpl), it also contains this quote: “Although some participants reported that they felt like they were reading faster at 35 cpl, this condition actually resulted in the slowest reading speed.” Just another reminder: people who don’t lie are not necessarily telling the truth. Think about it at your next design meeting.

Getting to new you. If you’re new to GMail, here’s a few things you’ll want to know: a) Delete that which is redundant, archive everything else. b) Keyboard shortcuts get you there faster. c) There’s no security in SMTP. d) GTalk works in your inbox.

Bedouin’R'Us. WebWorkerDaily just went live, to address the online thirst of the coffee-shop-office crowd. You know who I’m talking about, because you’re reading this with espresso in one side, EVDO card in the other. I’m excited. I’m excited because years back I got to conduct my first interview as a manager at a coffee shop. Back then I excused it as “office is being renovated and anyway I need a drink”, or something like that. But really, I just wanted an excuse to get away from the same old office structure. And I got myself an amazing employee. I still think the best place to be creative is outside the office, away from the whiteboards and flourescent lights. Ever been to an interesting, stimulating office? And can vending machine soda ever beat espresso for flavor and kick?

HyperScope? Sounds interesting but … I don’t get it. When the instructions said “make a note to jump back here”, I realized I don’t know where “here” is. And since the back button doesn’t work, that means getting lost. So I switched back to the comfort of my feed reader.
