    Rank and relevance

Yesterday I found out that, if you search for “Subway Sandwich Shops affect on the world”, the top result is an old post of mine, which happens to mention Subway for example, but talks about something totally different.

It ranks high, but it’s irrelevant.

Yesterday was also a big blog circus started by Nick Carr. I’m sure his A-List rank went a few points higher, and if he AdSensed his blog, he could buy himself a beer or two to self congratulate.

Then there’s appreciation. Sterling Camden wrote a thoughtful reply (link love here, more personal here).

One is rank. One is relevant.

I’ll let you figure out which is which.

Thanks for the mention and attempted linkage, Assaf (got an extra ‘http’ in there).

I should have given you credit for taking me to Nick’s post in the first place, but where I linked to you worked better for my post.
